The AICML was created in Fall 2002, with funding of approximately 2 million per year for 6 years, to enhance and augment the research excellence in Machine Learning and related areas that exists in the Computing Science Department of the University of Alberta. In 2008, the AICML shifted its focus to health, exercising its capabilities in advanced data analysis to change the way health information is used in Alberta.
Alberta Ingenuity Centres for Research and Commercialization, ICRCs, are helping Alberta take advantage of growing opportunities in the global marketplace through innovation. ICRCs connect talent within Alberta universities, with industrial or private sector partners as well as with premier researchers from around the world, in order to develop new technology-driven solutions to ensure a prosperous future for Alberta and that will benefit others around the world.
